  • YouTube – How to replace a hard drive in a MacBook Pro (Late 2008)
Looks like I'm gonna need to track down a Torx T6 screwdriver. Maybe the geniuses will let me borrow one if I come in or something. Probably not. I bet I'll have to pay Fry's a few dozen bucks for one.

  • MS Reasearch paper on maintaining network connectivity at minimum power
Very clever use of an off-system gumstix-powered machine to maintain a Wifi connection while the main system enters S3 sleep. When the gumstix gets a TCP/IP signal to wake, the main system comes back up within 3 seconds, and the gumstix hands back over to it. Gumstix and main machine share a MAC for seamless transition such that the network can't easily tell that the main system wasn't just awake the whole time. Paper is using a laptop as the main system, and reduces "idle" power from 11W to ~300mW, while basically keeping a complete wifi/ip/tcp stack in place the whole time.
